Navjeevan College of Nursing, Gayaganga, under Navjeevan Rural Health and Development Society, is managed by the sisters belonging to the Daughters of the Cross, Calcutta Province.

The Institution had its beginning with ANM Course in 2003 and was updated to GNM Course from 2009 onwards. .

As per the need of the time to update the Nursing profession, the sisters have ventured into the new step by initiating the Bachelor of Nursing Programme (4 years degree course in Nursing) under INC and WBUHS from 2021-2022 academic year.

PHILOSOPHY

Navjeevan College of Nursing guided by the following statements of Philosophy:

Nursing is a service which relates to the whole person through a ministry of caring and nurturing. It helps individuals, families and communities to prevent illness, promote, restore health and alleviate suffering. The motto of Navjeevan College of Nursing “love, care and share” helps the students to motivate others to have a positive outlook on health.

  • The basic course in Nursing prepares nurses for the first level nursing in both the hospital and the community. Education results in the behavioural changes. Learning is promoted when intellectual inquiry, creativity, self direction, maturity and responsibility are valued.
  • We promote an all round development of the students with special emphasis on intellectual, cultural, social spiritual and moral aspects needed for a professional nurse who will uphold high professional standards and will contribute to the nation meaningfully.
OBJECTIVES
  1. To prepare the nurses be able to function as a member of the health team and possess the required competence for the service both in the Hospital and the Community.
  2. To awake in them a desire to serve country by placing a special emphasis on meeting the health needs of the rural population.
  3. To develop in them leadership qualities, a broad vision, sound education and moral values so that they would be competent in providing specialized care which is both scientific and of high quality.
  4. To create a right attitude towards the profession and realize the need of the people.
  5. To stimulate in them a desire for further study in advanced fields of the nursing profession.

Our vision is to protect, preserve and promote life through our Medical and Educational services the motto of Navjeevan College & School of Nursing “Love, Care and Share” helps the students to motivate others to have a positive outlook of health.
